Saturn’s ongoing opposition to Uranus is one of the predominant influences throughout the year (and next year). Mercury opposed Uranus just a few days ago, and is now conjoining Saturn. This is one of several triggering aspects occurring throughout the Saturn-Uranus opposition. However, this is a particularly strong trigger.
Mercury first formed this aspect in August, then retrograding in September, and is now making his final pass. This conjunction of Mercury and Saturn actually represents the culmination of a three-fold aspect. This is a powerful trigger, at an important time in the Saturn Uranus opposition.
Mercury is the planet of information, while Saturn is the planet of wisdom. They are naturally complimentary energies. This could be described as a time for processing information into wisdom. However, we need to think of information in broader terms than what has been read or heard.
Information is gathered through experiences, senses, and even through thoughts or emotions. It is what we know but don’t understand – it applies to ourselves as well as the external world. Where Mercury goes, our attention follows. He opens up awareness, and Saturn allows us to process that into a deeper understanding.
Saturn and Uranus opposing has created a tension between tradition and progress; security and freedom; or stability and change. In August, Mercury formed the same aspects drawing attention to this general theme. Last month, when the aspect formed while Mercury was retrograde the attention was more focused. It brought about awareness of deep down inner struggle with these issues as well as the inner needs driving us to seek changes.
Now Mercury is direct and has just passed opposing Uranus. The conjunction to Saturn is the final step in this three-month trigger of Saturn-Uranus. We have gathered the information, becoming aware of changes and volatile/unstable situations in our lives and the world around us. After the retrograde there is another level of information, with the realization (at least to some extent) of inner changes and needs. The conjunction to Saturn is posing the challenge of putting it all together.
Now it’s time to sort out what really is beyond your control, and what just seems ‘unmanageable’. Sort out what you really want to manifest in your life, and what just sounds good to dream about. Sort out what you really want to hang on to, and what you really want to let go of.
The opportunity of this powerful Mercury trigger lies in the understanding. The opportunity to understand. It is easier said than done. Saturn asks he tough questions, in the most formidable way. The first one being, "are you sure?" And next being "are you ready and willing to face the many challenges along the way?" Whatever the situation, and whatever the chosen path the challenges are many, and they are potent. And the rewards are worth it.
